Our Story
There isn’t a form of theatre I don’t value and none I place above another. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work across a wide range of live entertainment: plays, musicals, opera, dance, concerts, variety, and yes, I have run away with the circus a few times. Each discipline has shaped how I approach storytelling and reinforced a core belief: great work isn’t defined by its category, but by its craft and its impact.
Pickle Factory Productions began as an idea long before it became a company. It started when I was young, barely in college, and grew alongside me. Over time, it became something bigger than just my own vision. It became shared language among my closest friends and collaborators: “when we have Pickle Factory,” “when Pickle Factory does this.” It stopped being hypothetical and started becoming inevitable.
I didn’t grow up with easy access to the kind of theatre that inspired me—and neither did many of the artists I now work alongside. We understood early on that if we wanted to experience and create that kind of work, we would have to build it ourselves. Pickle Factory Productions exists because of that realization.
Our goal is to produce live performance across genres and disciplines, creating a space where artists who might not otherwise interact can come together to make something distinct, ambitious, and alive. The name “Pickle Factory” reflects that mission: preservation and creation. We honor the artists and traditions that came before us while actively developing new work and new ways of telling stories.
Starting this company was never a question of if, only when. The final push came from recognizing that the kind of work we wanted to create, and the kind of work our community was ready for, didn’t yet have a home.
Pickle Factory Productions is that home.

Executive Artistic Director
Alan received his bachelor's degree in Directing at Eastern Oregon University and his MFA in Stage Management at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Alan also studied Shakespeare at Shakespeare's Globe in London, England. His top credits are Production Stage Manager for USHH: Backstory Pass for Usher's Las Vegas Residency at Caesars Coliseum in Las Vegas, Stage Managing at Opera Columbus, and Production Coordinator/Project Manager for Terhal by Dragone in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Had Alan not found theatre, he would have studied Geology and become a Volcanologist and traveled the world studying volcanoes. This is likely because he grew up near Mt. St. Helens and watched the cinematic masterpiece Dante's Peak on repeat as a child (and by child, he still watches it at least once a month). In high school, Alan would show Pigs and Chickens in the county fair, receiving multiple awards for those chickens and his records books. Alan’s favorite kind of pickle is Hot Pickled Okra.

Dramatic Mezzo-soprano Anne Maguire has been heralded by the Houston Press “One of the best singers of (her) generation…Titanic in retribution, yet able to float shimmering passages of tenderness.” Easily recognizable for her “dark” and “opulent” vocal timber, she is the recipient of the 2020 George London award, as well as awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Counsel, Jensen Foundation, Opera Birmingham, and various others. She recently made her Verdian debut as Azucena in Il Trovatore at Opera In the Heights and has also been seen as Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress, Die Hexe in Hänsel und Gretel, Frau Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer, and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible.

Abigail received her BFA in Modern Dance at The University of Utah School of Dance in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her favorite credits are co-founding Black Box Movers, Dir./Choreo. of “Joseph…” at Cornwell Dinner Theatre & Troy Community Theatre as well as all of her dance films. Had Abigail not become a theatre artist, she would have gone into pre-law/criminal justice, and into law school. After high school, Abigail was the Idaho State FFA Secretary. She went to nationals for Land Judging (looking at the dirt). Her favorite kind of pickle is a sweet and spicy gherkin.
