Our Story

There is not a form of theatre that I do not like. Nor is there a form of theatre that I think is better than another. I have been lucky in my career thus far to have touched almost every form of live entertainment that is out there. I have done musicals, plays, dance, opera, concerts, variety, and of course I have run away with the circus a few times.

I was inspired to start Pickle Factory Productions when I was young, barely even in college. It has been a dream that I have grown up with. My dream grew so big and so strong that Pickle Factory also started to become the dream of my closest friends. "When we have Pickle Factory" and "Pickle Factory will do" became common phrases my friends would say. I did not grow up with easy access to the arts, and neither did many of my closest friends. We always knew that if we wanted to do and see the kind of theatre we love, we would have make it from the ground up. My dream is for Pickle Factory Productions to produce live entertainment of every genre and discipline. A place where artists who may never work together elsewhere can come together and create something truly unique. The name itself comes from the idea of Preservation and Creation. I want to preserve the teachings and writings of theatre makers past while also creating our own stories and ways of storytelling.

Something in me, even from a young age, always knew I would start my own company. And I always knew my fellow creators would happily join me in that journey. The final inspiration came from seeing my hometown have an obvious hunger for this but nowhere to go. Pickle Factory Productions will be that place for my community.

  • Executive Artistic Director

Alan received his bachelor's degree in Directing at Eastern Oregon University and his MFA in Stage Management at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Alan also studied Shakespeare at Shakespeare's Globe in London, England. His top credits are Production Stage Manager for USHH: Backstory Pass for Usher's Las Vegas Residency at Caesars Coliseum in Las Vegas, Stage Managing at Opera Columbus, and Production Coordinator/Project Manager for Terhal by Dragone in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Had Alan not found theatre, he would have studied Geology and become a Volcanologist and traveled the world studying volcanoes. This is likely because he grew up near Mt. St. Helens and watched the cinematic masterpiece Dante's Peak on repeat as a child (and by child, he still watches it at least once a month). In high school, Alan would show Pigs and Chickens in the county fair, receiving multiple awards for those chickens and his records books. Alan’s favorite kind of pickle is Hot Pickled Okra.

Dramatic Mezzo-soprano Anne Maguire has been heralded by the Houston Press “One of the best singers of (her) generation…Titanic in retribution, yet able to float shimmering passages of tenderness.” Easily recognizable for her “dark” and “opulent” vocal timber, she is the recipient of the 2020 George London award, as well as awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Counsel, Jensen Foundation, Opera Birmingham, and various others. She recently made her Verdian debut as Azucena in Il Trovatore at Opera In the Heights and has also been seen as Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress, Die Hexe in Hänsel und Gretel, Frau Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer, and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible.

Abigail received her BFA in Modern Dance at The University of Utah School of Dance in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her favorite credits are co-founding Black Box Movers, Dir./Choreo. of “Joseph…” at Cornwell Dinner Theatre & Troy Community Theatre as well as all of her dance films. Had Abigail not become a theatre artist, she would have gone into pre-law/criminal justice, and into law school. After high school, Abigail was the Idaho State FFA Secretary. She went to nationals for Land Judging (looking at the dirt). Her favorite kind of pickle is a sweet and spicy gherkin.
